Multi-Engine Rating

www.canadianflyers.com

The multi-engine qualification is one of the most fun ratings to accomplish. Most pilots never forget the feeling of acceleration as they advance "both" throttles behind the controls of a multi-engine aircraft. This rating is a must for commercial pilots who wish to advance to more powerful and complex aircraft but it is becoming increasingly common amoung private pilots who want to fly longer distances in shorter periods of time.

The prerequisites for a multi-engine rating as prescribed by Transport Canada are as follows:

* Applicants must hold a valid Canadian Private Pilot Licence or higher.
* Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or a person lawfully admitted into Canada for flight training.

Training requirements for this licence are as follows:

Flight Training

On a Piper PA-44 Seminole twin engine aircraft.

Ground Training

Extensive briefing on operating procedures in a multi-engine aircraft.

Note : No minimum hours are required to obtain this rating.

Graduation Requirements

* The applicant must pass a Practical Flight Test conducted by a Transport Canada Designated Flight Test Examiner.
* The applicant must satisfy all training criteria as outlined in the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).

Privilages of the Multi-Engine Rating

The Multi-Engine Rating entitles its holder to fly any multi-engine non-high performance aircraft.
