Helicopter Flight Training Program
Hundreds of successful graduates are now employed as helicopter pilots in Canada and around the world.
Ground school and flight training are designed to provide graduates with the skills and attitude necessary
to operate helicopters efficiently and safely under various flight conditions and remote geographic locations.
Flight Training and ground school subjects are taught at the new Canadore College Aviation Campus at the
Jack Garland Airport, North Bay, Ontario.
Ground school is intensive and covers all required aspects of helicopter operations. A variety of additional
operational training subjects provide the students with a balanced ground school training program.
Applicants will be participating in strenuous physical activities such as a helicopter landing pad construction,
chain saw operation, water egress training and a winter survival program.
Graduates from the program will receive a Canadore College Certificate and a Transport Canada
Commercial Pilot License (Helicopter) with endorsements on Piston and Turbine helicopters.
Gateway Helicopters Ltd., located at the Jack Garland Airport operates in affiliation with Canadore College.
Gateway Helicopters Ltd. is a well established and diverse company that specializes in charter, aerial spray,

Flight Training Campus
Gateway Helicopters Ltd. operates in partnership with Canadore College
Canadore College Aviation Campus
In September 2002, Canadore opened its new $12.5 million Aviation Campus, located at North Bay's Jack
Garland Airport. The campus is a state-of-the-art facility, which provides students with classrooms,
resource centers, meeting rooms and student lounges.
This new campus positions the College as one of the most comprehensive aviation educators in Canada.
The Rotor Wing Flight Training Program partnership with Gateway Helicopters is a unique program that
provides students with the benefits of a college education combined with practical training.
The blend of academic, operational and practical aspects of helicopter flight training presents students with
a balanced training program.
With many experienced pilots retiring, and the departure of the former stream of military-trained pilots,
unique opportunities are being created for new civilian trained pilots. Current trends indicate that this will
continue to grow, with the demand for qualified professionals increasing worldwide.
We are here to help you put together all the pieces to make you a competent, safety-conscious pilot with
an excellent level of operational knowledge.
You will need to be dedicated and highly motivated, both as a student and in your career, with a solid work
ethic. The training is challenging, and encompasses far more than flying a helicopter.
Be ready to enjoy the training, but be ready to work hard at it.

That’s why our graduates are in demand.
Canadore College and Gateway Helicopters cannot guarantee a student can complete the course in the

as such some
students may require additional flight time and or ground school time in order to meet these standards.
