The Commercial Helicopter Licence course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career as a professional helicopter pilot.

PRIVATE ALTERNATE CATAGORY - HELICOPTER
LEGAL VERSION
Eligibility

You must hold a valid Private or Commercial Licence-Airplane
Valid For

Same as Private Licence-Helicopter
Privileges

Same as Private Licence-Helicopter
Knowledge

20 hrs of ground school
Pass a 30 question multiple choice (PHRAC) exam obtaining at least 60%.
Experience

Minimum 30 hrs total helicopter time; with minimum 17 hours dual flight time including 5 hrs (3 hrs may be simulator) of instrument flight time and 3 hrs of cross-country flight time.

Minimum 8 hrs solo flight time-including 3 hrs of cross-country flight time with 1 cross-country flight of not less than 100 nautical miles and 2 full stop landings at points other than the point of departure. s
Skill

Pass a flight test of approximately 1.5 hrs.

Knowledge

20 hrs of ground school
Pass 30 question multiple choice (CHRAC) exam by obtaining at least 60%
Experience

Minimum 60 hrs total helicopter time; with minimum 37 hrs dual flight time including 10 hrs (5 hrs may be simulator) of instrument flight time and 5 hrs of cross-country flight time.

Minimum 23 hrs solo flight time-including 10 hrs of solo cross-country flight time with 1 cross-country flight of not less than 2 hrs flight time from the point of departure and 3 full stop landings at points other than the point of departure.
Skill

Pass a flight test of approximately 1.5 hrs.
